Personally, I like the Bowflex 5/52 SelectTech Dumbbells. They are spendy at $400 (list price: $450), but a very manly gift for the dad who trains with free weights. I use a collar system and I can tell you it's annoying to have to rotate four collars in and out whenever I need to add or remove weights on my dumbbells. The rotating collars truly make the dumbbells dumb. Maybe Bowflex should call their dumbbells smartbells instead.
