Innocent
By Scott Turow
The sequel to Presumed Innocent, Innocent continues the story of Rusty Sabich and Tommy Molto. Twenty-one years earlier, Tommy Molto had been a prosecutor during Sabich’s dramatic trial, and the two have a history of both mutual respect and antipathy. Each acknowledges the other’s courtroom skills, but neither one can forget how Rusty evaded conviction. Now Tommy, who is acting Prosecuting Attorney, tries Rusty for a new murder — that of Rusty’s wife, Barbara. Molto’s fiery deputy, Jim Brand, is fiercely loyal to his boss and something of a pit bill. He uses all of his powers of persuasion to convince Tommy that this time, they can nail Sabich and make him pay for at least one of his crimes. What follows is a clash of the titans, since Tommy is not the only powerhouse attorney eager to win this case. Rusty is fortunate to have on his side a top-notch defense lawyer, Sandy Stern who, as he did before, hopes to wield his magic wand and exonerate his high-profile client.
Miracle on the 17th Green
By James Patterson and Peter de Jonge
Travis McKinley’s life has drifted sideways. His job, his marriage, even his children all feel disconnected and distant. Has he really accomplished nothing of consequence in his life? One Christmas Day, Travis plays a round of golf and finds himself for the first time in the zone — playing like a pro. In astonishingly short order, Travis is catapulted into the PGA Senior Open at Pebble Beach, where he advances to the final round. And while his wife, his children, and a live television audience watch, a miracle takes place that changes Travis, and his family, forever.
Oil: Money, Politics, and Power in the 21st Century
By Tom Bower
With unparalleled insight into BP and its safety record leading up to the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, Tom Bower gives us a ground breaking, in-depth, and authoritative twenty-year history of the hunt and speculation for our most vital natural resource. Twenty years ago oil cost about $7 a barrel. In 2008 the price soared to $148 and then fell to below $40. In the midst of this extraordinary volatility, the major oil conglomerates still spent over a trillion dollars in an increasingly frantic search for more. The story of oil is a story of high stakes and extreme risk.
Beyond Belief: Finding the Strength to Come Back
By Josh Hamilton and Tim Keown
Josh Hamilton was the first player chosen in the first round of the 1999 baseball draft. He was destined to be one of those rare “high-character ” superstars. But in 2001, working his way from the minors to the majors, all of the plans for Josh went off the rails in a moment of weakness. What followed was a 4-year nightmare of drugs and alcohol, estrangement from friends and family, and his eventual suspension from baseball. The book details the events that led up to the derailment. But it is also the memoir of a spiritual journey that breaks through pain and heartbreak and leads to the spectacular rebirth of his major-league career.
WAR
By Sebastian Junger
From the author of The Perfect Storm, comes a book about the reality of combat — the fear, the honor, and the trust among men in an extreme situation whose survival depends on their absolute commitment to one another. Sebastian Junger’s on-the-ground account follows a single platoon through a 15-month tour of duty in the most dangerous outpost in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley.
Moment of Glory: The Year Underdogs Ruled Golf
By John Feinstein
After winning 6 of the 12 Majors from 2000 to 2002, Tiger Woods struggled in 2003. Four unknown players (Mike Weir, Jim Furyk, Ben Curtis, and Shaun Micheel) would seize the day, rising to become champions in his wake. How does one moment of glory affect the unsung underdog for years to follow? Feinstein chronicles the champions’ ups and downs, giving readers an insider’s look into how victory (and defeat) can change players’ lives.

My favorite book is definitely “Innocent.” I’m reading it right now and I can’t put it down! Can’t wait to see how it ends! John Grisham owes a great debt to Scott Turow for getting the reading public hooked on the lawyer genre!
