The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella
[Review Update: I read the book and found it interesting, but a bit disappointing. The story centered around the last few days of Bree's life. The book would have been more interesting if we got a glimpse of Bree's life prior to becoming a vampire. I think most Twilight fans will be disappointed — especially the ones obsessed with Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. They're not really in this Twilight story.]
Not sure if die hard Twilight fans will like this book, but Stephenie Meyer is publishing another Twilight book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella. The latest Twilight book is about Bree Tanner (duh). She was introduced in Eclipse. I don’t actually remember Bree Tanner (I read Eclipse almost two years ago), but she was one of the newborn vampire that was after Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. In this fifth Twilight book, the story is told from Bree’s point of view.
The hardcover book is a short one. It’s only 192 pages with a list price of $13.99 (currently $7.69 on Amazon). The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella will be releases on June 5, 2010. The book will also be available for free download from noon on June 7th to July 5th (Bree Tanner download link — will be updated later).
I did not receive a pre-release copy of the Bree Tanner book, but my guess is that fans of the Bella Swan and Edward Cullen love story probably won’t care for this Twilight book. They’re still anxiously waiting for Midnight Sun (no release date yet). Call me bloody strange, but I’m kinda looking forward to this Twilight book. I want to hear about the story behind Bree Tanner and the newborn vampires.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention something. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, will donate one dollar for each book sold in the U.S. from the first printing to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile.

Sounds pretty good. I don’t remember Bree Tanner at all.
If you likes the Twilight books, here is one that is kind of the same: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (I think that’s her last name) Stephanie Meyer endorsed it. It’s about Shadow hunters who look for fairies, vampires, and werewolves in the city and keep them in check. That’s next up on my reading list.
Thanks for reminding to check them out at the library. My wife read them, but she didn’t love them.
I loved the first three in the series but her last book really stunk for me. I’ll probably end up reading this one too but I won’t be dying to be the first in line to get one.
Hugs,
Holly
The last one was like an X-men mutant story. And what’s with Jacob bonding with the baby?
Hoepfully you can download the free version of the book to your Kindle!
Pretty interesting I think …
No way! I’m a total twilight die-hard and can’t wait to read this new book. I knew vaguely who Bree is from the moment my friend mentioned the possibility of this book months after I had last read Eclipse. I can not wait to hear about her. I remember she didn’t like Jane’s attitude very much:).
Are you related to the Cullens?
I just read the Bree Tanner novella and it was ok. She leaves it open for another offshoot book for “the one that got away”. I did like that it kind of in a very small way weaves it into the Eclipse book at the right spot. I don”t think we need to see Bree’s life before she becomes a vampire. She does hint at and that’s enough to serve her purposes for this book. I also wish and pray and hope and keep my fingers crossed that Stefenie Meyer finishes and releases Midnight Sun is it? And about the Mortal Instrument series… I loved it!
I was thinking the same thing about possibly another Twilight book. I wonder if Fred made it as a lone vampire. He sure was different from the other newbies. I also can’t until Midnight Sun is published. I liked the Mortal Instrument series too. I wonder if they are going to make a movie based on those books. Have you read The Host?
Actually…I just read The Host last week. I put it off because it wasn’t Twilight! I felt it got off to a slow start but I wound up really liking it. Made me cry so it must’ve been good. The House of Night series by P.C. And Kristin Cast is good also. It’s a little more adult but not too bad.
Thanks, I check out the House of Night series the next time I’m at the library. My wife is going to kill for me for starting yet another series.
I loved the book. I am a great Twilight Fan and I love all the books. I loved this one too but still I am a little dissapointed, because even though I loved it, I am still waiting Midnight Sun. I like everything Meyer publishes (yeah, its my great obsession) and I have read The Host too. Oh and I ‘ve also read the House of Night Series.
P.C: Please excuse my english. I’m mexican and I am not that good at english.
Vale ;)
My wife and I can’t wait until Midnight Sun comes out too. The way The Host ended, Meyer will probably publish a sequel. BTW, your English is fine.
I am currently reading Bree Tanner — so far, I totally cannot place her in the Twilight series at all. Did they even say her name in Eclipse? I had to laugh at your wife’s getting mad at you starting another series…I am totally all about the series this year. I just finished the most current ( 7 or 8) book in House of Night — cheesy at first, then it totally grew on me. I am in the second book of the Immortal Instruments (City of Ashes) trilogy….which is not bad. But I suggest — in case you hadn’t heard of it — The Hunger Games (Young Adult) is the best book I have read in years! It is a trilogy – final book out this summer. Written by Suzanne Collins – author or Gregor the Overlander series — which I also cannot recommend enough. Just awesome!
Sorry that was called Mortal Instruments…
Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll check them out when I’m done with the House of Night.
