New School Year
My son started kindergarten yesterday. He’s all grown up now. Spiderboy doesn’t need me anymore. By the end of the week, I expect him to graduate from high school and move away to a galaxy far, far away. Then he’ll become a Jedi Knight — like his father before him. The Force is strong in our family. Really.
Things have been hectic around here with the start of the new school year. We have two kids in school this year and they have different start times. And the kids are not even in the same building. The school doesn’t have enough room for all the kids, so the kindergarten classes are located in a dumpster near the school. And who came up with the idea of half-day kindergarten? After I drop off my son and return home, I have less than two seconds before I have to head back to pick up the kids. And since when is two and half hours considered half-day?
On another note, the Little Monkey was not happy about her brother and sister going to school without her. She had a major melt down when we explained to her she was too little to go to school. She just screamed and insisted she is big enough and she is five. She just have to go to school. You know, because having mommy and daddy to herself is just the worst thing that can happen to a three-year old.

I remember those days from long ago. Now I just make sure they get out of the house in one piece and get home with all their clothes on…
That’s my concern too. I would not be shock if my son came home without his pants.
Awww – hello chaos, my name is family life….LOL I know how ‘lil Monkey feels! May the force be with you all!
Hugs,
Holly
I sure could use one of those “easy button”
My kids both went to half-day kindergarten; I also thought that was a raw deal. When I went to half-day kindergarten back in the dark ages, it was from 8:30 or so until after noon. Of course, now that my kids are older, full-day kindergarten has been implemented in my state. Thanks a lot.
Anyway, I think if Mommy Forever is willing to “play school” with your youngest, maybe Little Monkey won’t feel so left out.
A few school has full-day kindergarten, but we would have apply for a transfer and pay extra.
LMAO….I love Little Monkey…that personality is priceless LMAO…
Hope the older two had a great first day back !
I think you might feel different if you had to experience her meltdowns in person. It’s like telling my wife she can’t go shopping.
Welcome back to school, kiddos!
Since Spiderboy goes to school in a dumpster I guess it’s good he only is there half a day.
They’re building a new school so the Little Monkey won’t have to experience the dumpster too.
Ah, school. Julia is in half day preschool – 9 a.m. to noon. The school is twenty minutes from our house. Ugh. I know how you feel.
Spiderboy really does look grown up in that picture!
At least we’re only about 5 minutes away. But still very annoying.
May the Force be with you all! Is your son in the morning class or the afternoon? Zachary started the year in the morning class, but after one Friday of trying to get the kids off to school, sleep for 2 1/2 hours, go pick up Zachary, then try to nap while he was home until the other 2 kids get home, settle them in and try to nap some more, I switched Zachary to afternoons since the only extended kindergarten (where the kids go to a daycare type setting for half the day and the actual class for the other half) is only offered if the student is in the afternoon Kindergarten class. Wow! What a sentence! :-D
My son is in the afternoon class. Our mornings are too hectic already.
very cute pictures…love those first day of school pictures…it’s the only day of the year that mine actually brush their hair…
you’ll have to remind the little one how much she wanted to start school when she’s in high school and complaining about going…
Like she’ll believe anything I say when she’s in high school.
Awww… I hope the school year is going well so far! Kindergarten is so much fun!
Yeah, lots of driving around with different school schedules! I’ve had my three all at different schools in past years. Crazy. This year two of them are together.
In a couple of years, we’ll have three kids in school too. But it will be a K-8 school so they will all be in one place. Thank goodness.
Half day kindergarten is as it should be! I can’t imagine sending a tiny tot in all day. Actually, they should have half-day school as well. What are they doing for all those hours every day? And then homework? I’m just glad it’s not me. ;]
I was in full-day kindergarten and look at me now. Oh wait, never mind.
Awww the kids look so cute, shame about little monkey… her turn will come.
Maybe you could find a local church for Little M to go to a day or so a week?
They are so adorable in their school clothes… *sigh* why can’t my kids go to school now?!
At least she’ll be excited to go to school.
