The Romantic Mother’s Day

Posted by Daddy Forever on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 : : 41 comments

Colleen, Queen of the Nuthouse, tagged me for a meme. I am suppose to post three random things about myself. I’m running out of things to say about me that I have not already blogged about previously. So, I’m going to write three things about our romantic Mother’s Day.

(1) Romantic Breakfast with 100 Strangers
We went out for breakfast on Mother’s Day. There was no way we were going to wait 1-2 hours for a table for lunch or dinner. We’ve done that before. With three young children, waiting 1-2 hours for a table would not be a treat for my wife. I might as well ask her to make us dinner, wash the dishes, and give me a back massage on Mother’s Day. That would really make her day.

(2) Romantic Trip to Target
After breakfast, I took my wife to Target. I know, I know, a mom’s dream come true. Why go to the mall and look at expensive jewelry when you can go shopping at Target. Do I know how to make my wife happy or what? The Little Monkey was very excited about Target too. That’s why she peed on the floor. And it wasn’t a little pee either. It was a flood. Clean up on aisle five!

(3) A Romantic Movie
After the romantic trip to Target, we watched a romantic DVD in the afternoon - The Justice League. Isn’t that great? We’re talking about Batman, Superman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl. Is there a mom out there who doesn’t get excited seeing superheroes in tights? OK, maybe my wife wasn’t excite, but she did get a little alone time while the kids learned how to pummel each other. Thank you Justice League.

So serious on Mother’s Day. Three kids will do that to you.
Mother's Day Breakfast

With these Hulk hands, I can pummel my brother.
But I have to pee first. Oooops. Too late.

Wow, you really know how to show your wife a good time. I’m impressed. All I got was a day free to nap and lounge in bed, a new tabletop tripod, and a digital picture frame. Sheesh.

I know, I know. My wife is so lucky. On her birthday, we might wash our car together.

Aren’t we on the same time now? If we are, you were either up very late or very early.

Yes, we ARE on the same time, and you weren’t supposed to notice the time stamp! I’ve had trouble sleeping for the past week, but last night I finally got a decent night’s sleep.

OK, that was one sexy day she had there! How’s she gonna top that one for Father’s Day?

We have a lot of fun on Father’s Day too. Usually we clean up after the kids’ birthday party, which seems to alway land on the day before my big day.

We had a romantic dinner too, until my infant threw a fork and it landed on some lady’s lap behind us. They asked to be moved. I hate when people pretend children are little monsters.

They must not have kids. It’s not like your kid went to their table and stab someone in the leg. Not that our kids have done that recently.

Happy Mother’s Day, MommyForever! A trip to Target is the best present ever. Mommies don’t want gifts, they want to shop! Besides, that way it doesn’t seem like Daddy couldn’t think of any gift ideas.

Or even worst if the present doesn’t arrive until today. Darn those Amazon people!

Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy Forever!
So funny, we went to Target on Mother’s day, too. And I tried on the Hulk hands. Those are fun. I ounched the display behind me and almost knocked it over. Ooops! Clean up, aisle five.

I’m getting the Hulk hands when they go on 50% clearance. I wonder if I should them behind something in another section.

That should be “punched” the display, not “ounched” it. My bad!

Actually, we’re going to make them stay home when they get older. Then we could go to a nice restaurant for a change.

They should close up shop on Mother’s Day and give everyone the day off. Does that work for you?

You know what’s really weird is that your life really is fuller with all the daily hum drum of kids, Justice League and trips to Target. And as crazy as it sounds, there are women out there who would give up all they had to experience it. Good job dad/hubby. Good job. :)

Hugs,
Holly

We’re going to miss these times when they get older. But right now, I wish they could be a little more independent.

Not a bad Mother’s Day. I had mine on Saturday because Julia can’t keep anything secret. She came home and told me exactly what I was getting for Mother’s Day, so they just handed it over. Why wait when you already know?

Funny you should mention that. I was thinking of starting a day early to throw my wife off. Plus we could have gone out to dinner w/o waiting two hours.

I love days like that…it doesn’t matter what you do sometimes, just spending time with the family is enough

and then again, other times spending time away from the fam is nice too ;)

Especially when they act up. That would be a good time to be away from the family.

What a great idea. Next year, we’ll go to Dick’s Sporting Goods. It’s next to Target. I should have thought of it this year.
