Yahoo Wants Me Dead
It appears my Stolen Pumpkins post is still getting a little buzz. At 10am Sunday morning, Joe Mama left this comment (first part):
Sorry, but you people are so petty over small things..
For those of you who don’t know, someone stole 11 pumpkins from our lawn a couple days before Halloween. I agree with Joe Mama that pumpkin stealing is nothing compare to much more serious crimes. However, I do not consider someone stealing 11 pumpkins unimportant. I don’t think the $50 we spent on the pumpkins is trivial. I don’t think the 20 hours my wife spent gutting and carving those pumpkins is petty. And I don’t think the sadness my kids felt is meaningless.
Here’s the second part of Joe Mama’s comment (his typo):
..be glad they didn’t home invade and kill yoru whole family.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and when you write a public blog, you have to have a thick skin. But I don’t understand why anyone would leave a comment about invading someone’s home and killing everyone. I would understand if someone left a comment saying I should be glad something more serious didn’t happen, but I think someone would have to be a little mental to leave a comment about killing my entire family.
Normally, I would just delete and ignore comments that I think are out of line. But this time I recognized the IP address when I was deleting the comment:
209.131.56.14, nat.hillsboro.corp.yahoo.com
Apparently, Joe Mama works at Yahoo’s customer service center in Hillsboro, which is only a few miles from our house. As far as I know, Joe Mama could have been the person who stole our pumpkins. I also can’t believe Joe Mama works in customer service. I wonder what Joe is like on the phone:
Yahoo customer: I’m having problems with this, that, and the other thing.
Joe Mama: Sorry to hear that, but you should be glad someone didn’t hack you to pieces and eat you for dinner.
Yahoo customer: Thanks for putting my problem into perspective. That was very helpful.
Joe Mama: You’re welcome. Have a good day.
Seriously, how can someone like Joe Mama work in customer service for a company like Yahoo? I hope Yahoo tracks down Joe Mama. I’m not suggesting Joe should be fired, but I do think Joe needs help. Better get some therapy for Joe now before he becomes one of the people who goes around shooting other people.

awesome blog…great reading when you’re up at 3ish with a sick kid…and i think i talked to joe mama’s sister at our phone company…scary.
Thanks for stopping by. So sorry your kid is sick.
Obviously Joe Mama doesn’t have any children to understand how kids feel when something that they help transform through creativity is destroyed or taken from them. If this person does truly work at Yahoo! and works in customer service he may want to think about a career change.
I agree, I don’t think Joe has any kids and I don’t think he belongs in customer service.
I agree - Joe Mama is not a parent, certainly not a parent of young children. Yes, things could have been worse, but the message your children got out of the whole mess is that someone doesn’t respect them or their property. I think that’s pretty big in the way of “damages.”
The thief didn’t have to steal all the pumpkins either. Isn’t one or two enough pumpkins enough to steal as a prank?
I am crazy but that guy is crazy scary!
Keep smilin!
Yeah, you’re crazy good. Not crazy evil.
Wow! That was a heck of a comment. There are some things that don’t need to be said, Joe Mama.
I just still don’t understand why someone would leave a comment like that.
WTF???? I am beyond words. Speechless.
Glad you outed him/her in public.
Too bad everyone at Yahoo is distracted with the layoff announcement.
Okay…that is freaky!!!!
People seem to forget about sitemeter!
I don’t use Sitemeter. WordPress collects the ip address when someone leaves a comment.
I sure hope she reads this as she need to find a hobby while she is working. I got ticked because Saturday while it was snowing I found 3 children in our yard taking branches off the tree. Now one could say, let it go, its children and they were just having fun or since I have never seen them before one could wonder if there parents ever taught them
a) dont go to other peoples yards
b) dont take things that dont belong to you.
I was nice and quickly excused them from my yard
Why in the world would kids pull off branches from a tree? Both rude and weird.
There is absolutley no reason for someone to make light of your pumpkins being stolen…they may not have been extremely valuable..but the time, effort and love that was put into them..makes them valuable…Joe Mama..is an idiot!
Good for you for outing him/her…
The pumpkins were important to us and that’s all that really matters.
That finally explains why no one at Yahoo can fix my DSL problems…
Too busy stealing pumpkins?
I’m amazed at the things people say on other peoples blogs. Really! What was JoeMama thinking. (or not thinking as the case may be) I think I’d be talking to Yahoo and letting them about their customer service reps and what they are doing while they are supposed to be “working”.
With my luck, I’ll get Joe Mama on the phone.
The reason crappy things like this keep happening and growing is because people don’t say or do anything anymore so I think it’s great you piped up and shared! I think that it’s not right to use a “could be worse” (let alone the detailed idea shared) as an excuse for inaction or a justification that what was done was okay. Wrong is wrong and right is right and no amount of measuring changes the bottom line. It does make you wonder what kind of life Joe leads and if they do have some “vested interest” into your stolen pumpkins. I remember trying to explain to my teary eyed 3 year old why someone would destroy her snowman and feeling awful mean inside that anyone would think that kind of vandalism is a “cool” or “fun” thing to do.
Hugs,
Holly
I can’t believe someone would destroy your kids’ snowman. That’s mean.
Nicely done, hope ‘they’ sort the dork out.
No diet coke for Joe Mama!
Yeah. Joe Mama was out of line. Why the need to be so graphic? And I have to admit, it concerns me that the only thing that would get his dander up is a violent crime against loved ones. I think it’s only human to feel some amount of distress when you’ve been done wrong. Anyway, don’t we have the right to be protected from more than just being killed? I thought that was the whole idea of a civil society.
Yahoo does my web hosting. I wonder if it’s Joe Mama’s fault that my site was down for two hours on Sunday.
Yeah, it’s Joe Mama’s fault. He’s probably randomly turning off people’s site as a prank.
Ha ha ha, I did wonder what you were prattling on about! You got it, you are a DORK ! But a nice one me thinks.
Sadly, that wasn’t the first time I’ve done that. It’s Bloglines fault.
Wow, that is messed up. I always think of it this way… Reading a comment that some weirdo left makes me feel so NORMAL.
Besides, it’s your blog. If you want to make a big deal out of your neighbors being cretins or the fact that you have an ingrown toenail… it’s your space dern it. Go right ahead.
They don’t call it Yahoo for nothing.
No comment can ever make me feel normal on this planet.
What a nut. There’s some real freaks out there. You’ve just explained a few questions I’ve had about Yahoo!
“Makeshift Sinatra”
from the weekend bloghoppers
I do not understand people that enjoy being vicious to others. I am so glad you took a stand!
Ugh! What a horrible comment for someone to make. I’m really sorry that there are such creeps out there. Good to see you outing him on your blog.
It’s been a while since I last visited and I’m sad to see this kind of post … that Joe Mama doesn’t deserve to even be mentioned here … I’d bet he just wanted the attention … don’t mind him.
I hope you guys are always okay and no one has stolen anything else.
There is always one in a crowd.
Perfect reason for why I never use yahoo….
LOL! You’re funny :) why on earth would Joe Mama need to be mean in the first place? I think your post scared him away :) WOOHOO!
Oh, I was having such a good time reading your blog until I came to this post! Some people really are creeeeepy.
