My Kids Can Do It, Home Depot Can Help

Little Monkey and her cool googlesLook who joined big brother and big sister at the kids workshop at Home Depot. Isn’t the Little Monkey cute? Unfortunately for the Little Monkey, she only made it to the last two workshops. They are still being held weekly at our Home Depot, but Saturdays are now too hectic for us. The Little Princess has two classes at her Chinese school on Saturdays. Her classes are not back to back so we have to pick her up after the first class, then drive her back for her next class an hour later. Plus there are new episodes of Legion of Super Heroes and Batman. We couldn’t possibly miss those shows. My son and I have to save the day.

My kids love the Home Depot workshops and they really enjoy using the hammer (sometimes on my fingers). I hope my kids will always love building things — especially the girls. I’m actually amazed the Little Princess likes working with wood. She’s a girly girl you know. Back when I was a kid (I think George Washington was President), boys had to take wood shop and girls had to take home economics. Boys were not allowed to take home ec and girls were not allowed to take shop. I hope that is no longer the case today. It would be a shame if my girls are not allowed to build things and my son couldn’t learn to sew and burn things on the stove.

Your Little Monkey is just gorgeous! I think it is important that our kids are conversant with both workshop type skills and homemaker type skills…. in our house you would not be surprised to find me with a skill saw and my husband cooking in the kitchen! It really does happen!!! I love ‘building’ things! He doesn’t necessarily like making dinner, but he does every weekend!

Those goggles barely stay up on her little baby nose. What a pretty Little Monkey.
It looks like they really enjoy their Home Depot Saturdays.

  9. The Little Monkey is indeed cute! I most impressed by the fact that Spiderboy allowed himself to be photographed.

So now it’s two Chinese classes, huh? Wow.

BTW - about my moving to the PacNW because of your rain - ain’t gonna happen. I used to live up there (once, many, many moons ago), remember? Too cold for me!

    • She should have taken two classes last year too, but we were not sure if she would like Chinese school so were only signed her up for one class.

I remembered Washington was one of several places you lived, but I didn’t know it was too cold for you. Our winters are actually fairly mild compare to the east coast, but colder than where you are.

  10. I just realized who you are….Bob the Builder and you married Wendy and had kids. Holy Crap. Your whole blog now makes sense!!

  14. I feel so guilty…my kids have been begging to do one of these workshops for forever now and I keep putting it off. It looks like your kids are having a ball!

    Hugs,

  15. Very seriously cute pictures! Kudos for getting your little girls off to a great start in the world of fixit! My Dad did the same for me, and although I don’t use a lot of my “skills” I have great memories of him teaching them to me!
