Year of the Pig Ballet

A long, long time ago, people use to show off their kids with photo albums, slide shows, and home movies. Now we have blogs, Flickr, and YouTube. Before, parents could only infect a few people at a time. Now, thanks to broadband, parents can infect billions. Before, the contagious zone was just a few feet. Now, it’s global…maybe even exterrestrial.

As a parent, I also feel the need to infect my readers with photos and videos of my kids. Below is my latest video (1 minute 26 seconds). This time, I spliced together several clips and added a sound track. The sound track has a few bad spots because I pulled it from an old video tape.

When I was putting the video together, I couldn’t help but notice what it means to be Asian American…the blending of two cultures. In this case, the blending of the Chinese fire pig dance and ballet.

Ooo, so cute! Definite blackmail material for prom night and other such momentous occasions. I think that deserves a prominent place a Spiderboy’s wedding reception, don’t you?

Hopefully, he will not be doing any ballet twirls at his wedding reception.

My daughter started dancing to this when I put it on. They are so absolutely adorable! Kids dancing has to be one of the best things in the world. They’re not self-concious. They’re so free.. it’s amazing to watch. You’re a lucky dad!

Kids dancing is one of my favorite things next to drunk people dancing.
It’s essentially the same uncoordinated movements, spinning, swirling, and stomping, but the kids are (usually) sober, making the dancing that much more funny.

Precious! Kids dancing are the best. I especially like Toddler K’s dance. She dances just like Roo! We should get them together for a dance.
