Love and Hope

For this Love Thursday post, I want to send our love to three families we noticed at the hospital last week. First, there was the single mom and her baby with a very high fever. When it was time to go home, the single mom could not find anyone to take her and the baby home. She called the father of her child, her mother, and her so-called friend. They were all too busy to help her. Isn’t that sad? Mom and baby were stuck in the emergency room on a Friday night and no one cared.

The second family has a toddler one month older than our child. She was at the hospital to have fluids drained from her head. Her body couldn’t drain the fluids by itself. Even though the toddler has been in and out of hospitals for 2 1/2 months (she’s only 15 months old), her father was cheerful. He focused on the positives and was strong for his daughter. I, on the other hand, focused on the negatives and thought of all the things that could go wrong with my daughter’s surgery. I admired that dad for his strength.

Finally, there was the boy with a serious head injury. There were a lot of sad relatives in that room and his mom was really upset. She even kicked the wall and muttered something about “they don’t give you hope here.” The family later checked out and I heard a nurse say they went to another hospital. The mom wasn’t willing to give up hope and she didn’t want to stay at a place that didn’t offer hope.

So today, let’s send our love to these three families. They need and deserve our love.

All around us, there are people who’s plight is worse than ours and they make us realize how lucky and blessed we are. Thanks for reminding me again how blessed I am as well as my family.
